Fluoxetine: “Protection after Stroke?”

In today’s short post I want to point to a short article in the online edition of the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung. It focuses on the possible neuro-rehabilitative and regenerative effects of fluoxetine after a stroke. Click here for the article.

What is not stated there, however:

The findings collected by Tsuyoshi Miyakawa et al , which have now been published in the journal Neuropsychopharmacology, were obtained in mice. Whether they can be transferred to humans, and whether the adult human brain is able to generate new neurons, is still unclear.
